Muhammed Hamdy is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer from Cairo. He studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. He shot and co-produced the Academy Award-nominated feature-length documentary The Square (2013), which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for World Cinema. Among many other prizes, the film won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival and three Primetime Emmy Awards. Hamdy also shot Greg Barker’s We Are the Giant (2014), Gini Reticker’s The Trials of Spring (2015), and Petra Costa and Lea Glob’s Olmo and the Seagull (2015), which won the NORDIC:DOX Award at CPH:DOX. Perfumed with Mint, written and directed by Hamdy, is his feature directorial debut.
