Baya Kasmi is a French director, screenwriter, and actor. She is best known for writing the screenplay for Michel Leclerc’s The Names of Love (2010), starring Sara Forestier and Jacques Gamblin, for which she was awarded the César for Best Original Screenplay. She was nominated for the same award for for Thomas Lilti’s Hippocrate: Diary of a French Doctor (2014). Kasmi made her feature-length film debut with I'm All Yours (2015), starring Vimala Pons and Agnès Jaoui, which was followed by The (In)Famous Youssef Salem (2022), starring Ramzy Bedia. Mikado, her third feature, had its premiere at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival.
Mikado and Laetitia live with their children on the road. When their engine breaks down, they move in for the summer with Vincent, a teacher who lives alone with his daughter. It’s the start of an enchanted interlude that could also upset the balance of the whole family when their eldest daughter begins to dream of a normal life.
