Mo Harawe, a Somali-Austrian writer and director born in Mogadishu, studies visual communication and film at Kunsthochschule Kassel. The Village Next to Paradise, his debut feature-length film, follows his acclaimed short films Life on the Horn (2022), which earned a Special Mention at the Locarno Film Festival, and Will My Parents Come to See Me (2022), which was nominated for a European Film Award, won the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and was named Best Short Film at both the German Film Awards and the Austrian Film Awards.
