Damian Kocur is a director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. A PhD candidate and professor at the Łódź Film School, he is the author of several short films that have won awards around the world. Bread and Salt (2022), his debut feature-length film, was awarded a Special Jury Prize in the Orizzonti competition at the Venice Film Festival, and went on to win awards at numerous film festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival, the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, the Cottbus Film Festival, and OFF Camera in Kraków. As It Was (2023), his most recent short film, was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes. Under the Volcano is his second feature-length film.
