Benoît Chieux is the graphic designer of Jacques-Rémy Girerd’s My Little Planet mini-series (1996), which won the UNICEF Award and the Prix fondation de France; the graphic designer and screenwriter of Girerd’s Charlie’s Christmas (1998), winner of the Jury Award at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, and the Cartoon d’Or; and co-director (with Damien Louche-Pélissier) of Spud and the Vegetable Garden (2001), which won the Pulcinella d’Or. Chieux contributed for several years to the success of the Folimage studio before creating the Mica series (2004–2007). In 2004, he joined Girerd’s team as the graphic designer and art director on the feature-length film Mia and the Migou (2008). After co-directing Aunt Hilda! (2013) with Girerd, Chieux directed his first short film, Tigers Tied Up in One Rope (2015), which won both the Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival. In 2016, he directed Midnight’s Garden, his first collaboration with Sacrebleu Productions, which was nominated for the César Award for Best Animated Short Film.
Four-year-old Juliette and eight-year-old Carmen, two intrepid sisters, discover a passage to the extraordinary world of their favorite book, The Kingdom of the Winds. Transformed into cats and separated from each other, the girls will have to be bold and daring to find their way back to each other and, with the help of the singer Selma, to the real world by confronting Sirocco, the master of winds and storms. But is he as terrifying as they fear him to be?
