Alain Gagnol studied animation, illustration, and comics at the École Émile Cohl in Lyon before working as an animator in Valence. He also writes noir fiction novels that have been published by Gallimard, Cherche Midi, and Le Passeur. Jean-Loup Felicioli studied at the Écoles des Beaux-Arts in Annecy, Strasbourg, and Perpignan, before joining Alain Gagnol in Valence. He also writes books for children. Together, Gagnol and Felicioli made several short films before releasing their first feature-length film, the Academy Award-nominated A Cat in Paris, in 2010, which was followed by Phantom Boy in 2015. Nina and the Hedgehog’s Secret (2023) is their third film together.
The world of Nina, a ten-year-old girl, is turned upside down when her father loses his job at a factory after his supervisor embezzles money. Together with her friend Mehdi, Nina sets off on a life-saving quest that may well lead to the discovery of a treasure hidden in the disused factory. A modern coming-of-age tale.
