Born and based in Casablanca, Hicham Lasri is a Moroccan director, scriptwriter, producer, and writer. His six feature films — The End (2011), They Are the Dogs (2013), The Sea Is Behind (2015), Starve Your Dog (2016), Headbang Lullaby (2017), and Jahilya (2018), were selected for the Festival de Cannes and the Berlin and Toronto International Film Festivals, and have won critical acclaim and numerous awards and honours. Lasri’s short films include Love in Aleppo (2018), Wasteland (2018), and The Last Arab Movie (2019).
In an electric Casablanca, Khadija Aka Kathy wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and, in a great moment of solitude and lucidity, discovers life has not been kind to her. On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, she realises she is being exploited by her family — and even her fiancé. An X-ray of a society through the story of a woman who refuses to give up.
