Originally from the historic neighborhood of Derb Sultane in Casablanca, Omar Lotfi is deeply rooted in his Amazigh culture. His artistic perspective is shaped by a diverse childhood and his interest in cinema and theater, both of which he sees as powerful tools for telling Moroccan social stories. After obtaining his high school diploma, he focused on theater at the Conservatory of Boulevard de Paris in Casablanca, where he trained in dramatic arts. His first feature film, L’Batal (2024), reflects his dramatic sensitivity and commitment to portraying the social reality of Morocco.
Ali, an amateur actor, gets caught up in a bizarre situation after he posts a compromising selfie on social media. The photo captures Sam with his mistress, Ibtissam. To protect Sam, Ali is asked to pose as her lover. Tricked into believing he is auditioning for a film, Ali agrees to take on the “role.” But Ibtissam is kidnapped by a gang, plunging Ali and his friends into a dangerous adventure.
