Director's Biography

Writer-director Richard Linklater is a five-time Academy Award nominee, two-time Golden Globe winner, and two-time BAFTA winner. He has directed 23 feature-length films, most recently Boyhood (2014), Everybody Wants Some (2016), Last Flag Flying (2017), Where’d You Go Bernadette? (2019), Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood (2022), and Hit Man (2023). Linklater also serves as Artistic Director of the Austin Film Society, which he founded in 1985 to showcase films from around the world that were not typically shown in Austin, Texas. The society operates a repertory theatre, manages a film studio, and has rewarded grants to Texas filmmakers since 1996.
