Boubacar Sangaré was born in San, Mali, in 1985. He has obtained degrees in law and film and now works as a lawyer and filmmaker. Sangaré has directed four short films and co-directed a television production. A Golden Life marks his feature film debut.
At the gold-digging site of Bantara in Burkina Faso, sixteen-year-old Rasmané descends more than one hundred metres deep into artisanal mines to extract gold. Anxious about accidents, Rasmané makes his way in this world of fierce adults in the hope of one day becoming emancipated.
