Biographie

Matt Dillon’s film career has spanned over three decades. He has starred in films such as Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders (1983) and Rumble Fish (1983), Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy (1989), Cameron Crowe’s Singles (1992), Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s There’s Something about Mary (1998), John McNaughton’s Wild Things (1998), Paul Hagis’ Crash (2004), Lars von Trier’s The House that Jack Built (2018), and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City (2023). In 2003 he made his directorial film with City of Ghosts, which he co-wrote with Barry Gifford. In 2006, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the Academy Award-winning Best Picture Crash. His performance earned him his second Independent Spirit Award, the first coming for Drugstore Cowboy. Recently he starred opposite Patricia Arquette in Apple’s limited series High Desert. He has been a Refugees International board member since 2008 and has gone on missions to Myanmar, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo and has made short documentaries, bringing awareness to the plight of refugees and those internally displaced by conflict and climate change. He’s recently completed a feature length music documentary titled El Gran Fellove about the legendary Cuban scat singer Francisco Fellove. He’s also a visual artist.
