Their collaboration continued with Bleeder (1999), Pusher II: With Blood on My Hands (2004), and Valhalla Rising (2009). In 2011, Mikkelsen received the European Film Award for his contribution to world cinema. He has had prominent roles in Danish films including Men and Chicken (2015) and the Academy Award-nominated A Royal Affair (2012). He received the European Film Award for the Academy Award-winning Another Round (2020), his second foray into Thomas Vinterberg’s cinematic universe, following his searing performance in The Hunt (2013), for which he won the Best Actor prize at the Festival de Cannes. More recently, Mikkelsen starred in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), Arctic (2019), Doctor Strange (2016), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), and Casino Royale (2006), as well as the celebrated series Hannibal (2013–2015), in which he plays the title role.

Presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Foundation has as its primary objective the organisation of the Marrakech International Film Festival and any related events, all of which aim to encourage the creation, promotion, and distribution of works of cinema throughout the Kingdom of Morocco and around the globe.
