Leos Carax began his career in cinema as a film critic and the director of several short films.
He established his audacious, rule-breaking visual style with his first feature, Boy Meets Girl,
in 1984, then made Bad Blood, with which he continued to explore the complexities of love
in the modern world, and which was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival. In
1991, he released the critically acclaimed Lovers on the Bridge. His next film, an adaptation
of Herman Melville’s Pierre, or The Ambiguities, titled Pola X, saw him move into increasingly
experimental territory.
Carax’s Holy Motors was a sensation at the 2012 Festival de Cannes
when it was selected for the Official Competition; his most recent film is the multi-award-
winning Annette, for which he won Best Director Awards from the Festival de Cannes,
among numerous other prizes.

Founded by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in July 2002, the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation is a non-profit organization of public interest.
Presided over by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Foundation has as its primary objective the organisation of the Marrakech International Film Festival and any related events, all of which aim to encourage the creation, promotion, and distribution of works of cinema throughout the Kingdom of Morocco and around the globe.
