After studying cinema at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle and undertaking training in documentary filmmaking at the National Audiovisual Institute, Khalid Zairi worked with renowned filmmakers and producers, among them Jilali Ferhati, Nour-Eddine Lakhmari, Hicham El Asri, Nabil Ayouch. He has produced numerous films and television series in Morocco and several sub-Saharan African countries. As a director, he made Sur les routes du Sahara (2017) and Passions des stades (2018).
Since the 1950s, the management of Charbonnages de France has enlisted the services of Félix Mora, a recruiter and former Indigenous Affairs officer in the French Army in Morocco. Over the course of twenty years, he brought more than seventy thousand people from southern Morocco to France to work in the mines of Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Mora Is Here tells the stories of former Moroccan miners, exploring their unknown stories and highlighting poignant elements of their fight against discrimination, physical danger, and socio-economic precariousness. It paints a complex picture of resilience and courage in the face of intense challenges.
