Felipe Carmona is a filmmaker and playwright. His work has been supported by the Chilean Film Promotion Fund. He has directed three short films that have won awards in Chile and abroad. He is an alum of Berlinale Talents Buenos Aires, and participated as a Fundación Carolina fellow in Madrid to finish the script for his first film, Prison in the Andes, whose development and production process has won several awards, receiving support in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Morocco, and Spain.
The five most ruthless right-hand men in Pinochet’s dictatorship are serving sentences amounting to several hundred years in a luxurious prison at the foot of the Andes. The place has a pool, gardens, and aviaries, where the inmates are watched over by guards who seem more like their employees. When one of the inmates gives a television interview, his declarations fuel an unexpected backlash. Fear of a possible move to another facility makes the men do everything in their power to stay put, unravelling delirium and violence.
